Tropical Depression “IGME” Weather Update August 19, 2012

Weather Bulletin Number ONE for Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Depression “IGME” Issued at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, 19 August 2012.

PAGASA reported that the active low pressure area East of Northern Luzon has developed into a tropical depression and was named Bagyong Igme.

Tropical Depression Igme was last spotted 280 kilometers East Southeast of Aparri, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center. It is forecast to move West slowly.

Public storm warning signal number 1 (45-60 kph winds) was raised in Isabela and Cagayan.

They estimated rainfall amount is from 5 to 15 millimeters per hour (moderate to heavy) within the 400-km diameter of Igme.

Tropical Depression Igme is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon bringing rains over Central and Southern Luzon especially the western section.

Residents living in Northern Luzon especially in low lying and mountainous areas were alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts were also advised not to venture out into the Eastern Seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon due to these weather disturbances.
