Director Emily Squires, well known for handling the longest running children’s television series “Sesame Street,. She passed away on Wednesday, November 21. She was 71.
She died at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
She was the director and writer at the same time of the popular kiddie show from 1982 to 2007.
Squires won six Emmy Awards for her work on “Sesame Street” and was nominated for three Writers Guild of America awards in the Daytime Serials category, for her work on Guiding Light and Search for Tomorrow. She won one of two nominations in 1985 and was again nominated in 1986.
