A 6.8 magnitude earthquake jolted Negros-Cebu Region, Philippines today (February 6, 2012), reported by the US Geological Survey (USGS). Phivolcs also reported that its a Phivolcs reported the tectonic quake as magnitude 6.9.

The quake, which has a depth of 33km, struck the area at 11:49 am. Its epicenter was recorded off 71 km (44 miles) SSE (161°) of Bacolod, Negros, Philippines.
According to the Philvocs, the temblor was felt at following intensities in the following areas:
Intensity V – Iloilo City; and Intensity IV – Kalibo, Aklan; San Jose de Buenavista and Pandan, Antique; Sta. Barbara, Iloilo; Dipolog City.
Philvolcs added that damage and aftershocks are expected from the quake.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire where volcanic and seismic activities are more frequent than in most areas of the world.

earthquake was so shocking !! ..it made myself and my board mates phobia on it. some schools here will resume their classes on monday but only our school still having classes. it’s so unfair.
