Marc Webb will return to his director’s chair for The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
It was confirmed by Sony that the said filmmaker will direct the third installment of the superhero series. A script has reportedly already been written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinker, and there are early plans to begin production on the picture this autumn with a scheduled UK release date of 27 May, 2016.
Meanwhile, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 starred by Andrew Garfield, as he return as Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter-ego, with Emma Stone also reprising her role as Gwen Stacy.
Jamie Foxx will also star as the villainous Electro, while Paul Giamatti is portraying the Rhino and classic nemesis The Green Goblin, as played by Dane DeHaan, will also feature in the film.
Shailene Woodley had been due to appear as Mary Jane Watson, but her role has recently been cut from the film and MJ will now make her Amazing Spider-Man debut in the third movie, due in 2016.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to hit cinemas on April 18, 2014.
