Sixteen year old actress Julia Montes talks about filming her first sex scene with Coco Martin for the show ‘Walang Hangan’.
The actress admitted that she has been receiving some flak following the controversial sex scene with Martin who is 3 years her senior. The actress, however, requested that she be given a chance to prove her acting prowess in the teleserye.
“Nagwo-worry din ako kasi iba-iba yung opinion ng tao. Kung yung iba nagagalingan sila dahil na-portrayko yung role ni Katherina, may iba na against kasi bata nga ako. Pero sana naman maintindihan nila yung side ko kasi gusto ko din talaga i-improve yungcraft ko. Iba yung acting ko dito,” said Montes.
‘Walang Hangan’ is loosely based on the story of Catherine and Heathcliff in Emily Bronte’s tragic romance Wuthering Heights. Montes plays the role of Katherina as Martin plays Daniel.
When asked to describe the sex scene, the actress had this to say, “Talagang kinakabahan ako, nanginginig ako ng literal. Pero bago nag-take, nagbibiruan kasi kami na ako daw ang mag-guide sa kanya. Kaya wala talaga kaming ilangan at mas madali para sa amin umarte. Tsaka inisip din naming na ginagawa namin yun para sa show so naitawid naman naming ng maganda yung eksena.”
She also adds that she believes that she was emotionally prepared for the project. “Kasi sa age ko, masasabi ko na medyomature din ako magisip, medyo naging factor din yun. And nanonood din ako ng ibang films. And siguro yung lahat ng kilig na eksena dito, yun din ang dream ng babae na mangyari sa kanya sa totoong buhay. And siguro nagkaroon na ako ng idea sa bawat nangyayari sa character ko na what if ako yung nandudun.”
On the topic of relationships, Montes confessed that she is not yet ready for a serious commitment at this point in her career. She also revealed that she believes she’s the kind of woman who will fall for a much older man.
“Masasabi kong oo kasi mature ako magisip, so gusto ko masmature sa akin magisip. Gusto ko tutulungan ako mag-grow as a person. And sa relationship din, gusto ko hindi ako yung tutulong sa kanya paangat, kundi siya yung tutulong sa akin.”
When talking about whether or not her co-star is boyfriend material, she said, But does she agree that Coco is boyfriend material? “Kung titignan mo naman siya oo, maalaga siya, at mabait naman. Ang best quality niya yung pagiging maalaga niya on and off cam—maalalay sa role, sa kilos… Tsaka ‘pag naka-skirt ako sasabihan ako niyan, ‘O yung upo mo.’ Ganon siya.”
