Floyd Mayweather Jr, the boxer who says nasty things about Manny Pacquiao has finally saying good things about the Pound for Pound king.
In his interview after his release from jail, he called Pacman an “unbelievable fighter”.
“I think Pacquiao is an unbelievable fighter and hopefully we could make the fight in the future,” he said in an interview with Pop Stop TV.
The American boxer, who spent two months in jail for domestic abuse, made the said statement during the movie premiere of “Freelancers,” in which stars his close friend, rapper 50 Cent stars in the film.
50 Cent also known as Curtis Jackson has partnered with Mayweather and put up The Money Team (TMT) promotions.
Their partnership made some speculations that the long awaited bout between Pacquiao and Mayweather might finally push through.
But Mayweather wants to take things slow.
“When that thing (Pacquiao fight) presents itself then I’ll have to go out there and do what I have to do,” he said
It seemed that he is projecting the other side of Mayweather since he was released from jail.
Few months before he was imprisoned, he called Pacquiao “dumb” because of not accepting his $40-million offer for the mega fight.
“Just by speaking to Pacquiao on the phone, I mean, he’s not one of the sharpest knives in the drawer,” he said. “He faces Floyd Mayweather, he’s not getting 50-50. Not at all. No one is getting 50-50.”
He launched a sarcastic attack against Pacquiao in 2010, wherein he accused Pacman of benefiting from performance enhancing drugs (PEDs).
“Pacquiao, he can’t speak no English. He never seen a contract he didn’t like. Mother f—– signed with two companies. Look it up. And then this mother f—— with Nike only got 70 Gs. How stupid can a mother f—– be? Reebok gave me a million dollars for three weeks. I wore Reebok s— for a week for a million dollars. … This mother f——’s name is Emmanuel. He got a fake name, taking power pellets,” said the controversial boxer.
But he changed a lot since leaving jail last week.
His kind words for the Filipino boxer fueled gossip that the superfight might actually take place soon.
50 Cent said his TMT Promotions is in touch with Pacquiao’s handlers.
The rapper is certain that they could iron the mega fight out with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc.
“I believe I can (make the fight happen),” the rapper said, as quoted by Boxing Scene. “I believe I’m a big reason why the possibility is coming closer.”
“We are in close communications (with Top Rank),” 50 Cent revealed. “So hopefully, we can get the show going.”
