Still looking young and fresh, who would have thought that multi-awarded actor Albert Martinez is now on his 30th year in show business? In fact, he’s also celebrating his 50th birthday. (Can you believe that?!)
In an interview recently, Albert shared his secret for staying young. “At the very young age of 19, I started my healthy lifestyle. I began watching my diet and being conscious with my body. I never stopped body building until I reached 40. Now, I’m more focused on cardiovascular exercises.” he shared.

Albert, husband of Liezl, son of ‘60’s character actor Bert Martinez and brother of actors William and Ronnie, began his showbiz career in the 1980’s. From then on, he has garnered recognitions from prestigious award-giving bodies for his effective portrayals in film and television. He also became an embodiment of a handsome and gentleman matinee idol.
We were given a chance to have a private conversation with him during his presscon cum birthday celebration thrown to him by his ABS-CBN family held at The Establishment just recently and was well-attended by his Kapamilya executives, his family, closest friends, fans and members of the media. He shared to us that he’s busy doing a movie project under Star Cinema entitled “You Light Up My Life,” with Coco Martin and Angeline Quinto.

According to him he plays the role of a mysterious character in the life of Coco. The movie is a romance-drama that is slated to be shown early next year.
Going deep into his personal details, the dashing actor admitted to us he has a gym at home where he keeps his body fit and for him, he can save time as well since it’s already there. He doesn’t smoke, but occasionally drinks, and his real ultimate dream was to have a washboard abs which he never had before not until he discovered Sculptor Plus by Belo, a non-invasive technology for body shaping which improves cellulite appearance by selectively heating the fat cells in both the deep and superficial layers of the skin, therefore secrete liquid fat and shrink in size. We asked him why he opted to celebrate his birthday this month, he said, on his exact birthday; they’ve discovered his lovely wife’s illness. 
The award-winning actor, has another thing to share, his advocacy as a film maker, had encouraged him to participate in the 2nd International Film Festival to be held on November 9, 2011 at Greenbelt 5 wherein Italian actors, producers and directors will arrive here in Manila to join this very prestigious and glamorous film fest. The 1st was incidentally held some 30 years ago by the former 1st Lady Imelda Marcos, tagged as the “Manila International Film Festival.”
He already made a mark when he played Mayor Enrique Rodrigo in ABS-CBN’s hit primetime series “May Bukas Pa.” Now, he heads the Altamira clan as Mariano and continues his search for his beloved daughter Elisa (Melissa Ricks) in Nasaan Ka, Elisa? which airs Mondays through Fridays, after “My Binondo Girl” on ABS-CBN.

Albert also revealed that in the course of his three decades as an actor, he hasn’t portrayed a president yet. “A lot of people have been asking me what role would I like to have next. I always say I want to be Manuel L. Quezon. I find him very interesting.” he said.
Truly, a pillar in the industry, the renowned actor promised to always be passionate in his craft and remain optimistic amidst the problems he’s facing. ‘Love is the key,” he exclaims.

The whole night proved to be so unforgettable and exciting until I got the chance to win a Rayban Folding Wayfarer (whoa!) for merely answering Albert’s real birth date, which was April 19, 1961.
